One of the better ones in recent times

In recent years we have seen more and more movies in the adventure/fantasy genre coming out. Not all of them are that good usually due to weak plots and poor acting, but Solomon Kane the movie is an exception to that rule.

Released in December 2009 Solomon Kane took fans of the genre as well as fans of the original stories by storm. James Purefoy shows of excellent and believable acting starring as the hard core fortune seeking mercenary, who turns religious at seeks forgiveness for his past sins by devoting his life to help others.

Solomon Kane finds his calling when he happens upon a traveling family, whom he joins for a while. The small group is suddenly attacked by some ruthless bandits and after killing of the family and kidnapping the daughter, Kane decides to track them down and rescue her.

This journey leads him back to his homeland and forces him to face his past and the events, which shaped him into what he had become.
